Shopping cart
A Wocart store sells one product per order by default: a shopper lands on a product page from an ad, fills the order form and receives that product. The shopping cart adds a second way to order several products in one delivery, without taking the first away.
It is off by default. A store that never turns it on ships no cart at all: no cart button, no cart panel, no checkout page.
Turn it on
Dashboard → Settings → Shopping cart → Enable the shopping cart, then
save. The storefront has a cart at once, with no rebuild. Through the API,
PATCH /api/stores/me with cartEnabled.
With the cart on, a storefront shows Add to cart under the product's own order button, a cart in the header, a cart panel, and a checkout page that takes the whole basket.
What the shopper can rely on
- The server prices the basket. The cart is kept in the shopper's browser, but every price, discount and stock level is checked against the catalog when the cart opens and again when the order is placed. A price that changed meanwhile is corrected and shown; a product that sold out blocks the order until the shopper changes it.
- One basket is one delivery, with one delivery fee.
- Limits: 20 different products, and up to 100 of each.
Delivery settings
Both are on the same settings screen, and in PATCH /api/stores/me.
Free delivery above an amount (freeShippingThreshold). Above this
basket value, the store pays the delivery. Leave it empty for none. With it
set, the cart and the checkout show how much more earns free delivery.
Baskets that mix shipping profiles (cartShippingMode). This matters only
when products have different delivery prices:
| Choice | Value | The shopper pays |
|---|---|---|
| Charge the highest rate in the basket (default) | highest | The rate of the product that costs most to ship |
| Always charge the default profile | default_profile | The store's default rate; per-product rates are ignored for baskets |
A single-product order is never affected.
Abandoned baskets
When a shopper types a phone number and leaves without ordering, the dashboard's Abandoned orders list shows the whole basket, line by line, with its total.
Turning it off
Uncheck Enable the shopping cart and save. The storefront goes back to the one-product order form. Orders already placed with several products stay ordinary orders: every line, its price and its stock deduction are kept, and they ship like any other.
For theme developers
The cart is shown only when config.cartEnabled is true, and a theme must
ship no cart markup otherwise. Basket and quotes
covers the browser basket, quoting and coupons.
