# Interface: AreaSpec

A part every page shares — a header, a footer — composed of sections like a
page and edited once for the whole store. Its document is stored as the
surface `area:<key>`.

## Properties

### document?

> `optional` **document?**: [`PageData`](PageData)

The theme's shipped document for the area (surface `area:<key>`).

Lowercase kebab-case, unique among the theme's areas.

### max?

> `optional` **max?**: `number`

At most this many sections (1–50).

### required?

> `optional` **required?**: readonly [`RequiredBlock`](RequiredBlock)[]

Sections the area must hold, as a surface's `required`.
