# Function: couponRefusalTone()

> **couponRefusalTone**(`reason`): `"refused"` \| `"hint"`

How a refusal reads: `hint` when the shopper can still meet the code with
this basket (see `COUPON_HINT_REASONS`), `refused` when the code itself
cannot be used — unknown, outside its dates, used up, not for this shopper —
and for a reason this release does not know.
